There is no greater feeling for him than capturing a moment on stage for others to enjoy for posterity. Musically, he loves everything from rock to country, jazz, R&B, pop, and classical. His work has been published in numerous outlets locally, regionally, and nationally. He has photographed many esteemed festivals including the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, and Farm Aid. He has literally photographed hundreds of shows, including some of the biggest acts in today’s music industry. He considers himself fortunate to have photographed shows at some of the premier venues in New England, including Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium. He had discovered his passion! Concert photography! Then in 2009 he shot a concert, and everything seemed to click.

Never knowing what his true passion or niche was, proved to be very frustrating to say the least. His discography comprises 18 studio albums, one soundtrack album, two live albums, and various compilation albums, in addition to 33 singles. He had originally taken up photography as a hobby, eventually gravitating towards shooting professionally in 2007. Marty Stuart is an American country music singer. Whatever the reason, there has always been a strong connection. Or maybe it was the countless hours listening to his older siblings' classic LP's and 45's on the stereo in the 1960's. With legends like George Jones, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard all passed on, country music purists often echo the question Jones. Maybe it was growing up in Newport, RI, host to the venerable Newport Jazz and Folk festivals. Rick Farrell of Mojo Photography has been drawn to music his entire life. It was a memorable moment, seeing the band pull it together off-script. when they appeared for their planned two-song encore, a heckler pleaded for Stuart to play the Marty Robbins classic, “Poor Side of Town.” Amazingly, without any prior notice or rehearsal, Stuart found the right key and sang a few verses with the band right behind him. The Willie Nelson cover “Me and Paul,” was superb and came with a great story about Willie, while the Rouse Brothers classic “Orange Blossom Special,” showcased Stuart’s out-of-this-world mandolin skills.įurther credit to the band. Several acoustic tunes showcased the band’s skills, and the sound quality at the Odeum was the best I’ve heard in a long time. Drummer Harry Stinson stepped up on guitar for a couple of tunes, including a nice version of the Woody Guthrie classic “Pretty Boy Floyd,” underscoring the classic verse: “Through this world I’ve wandered, I’ve seen lots of funny men Some will rob you with a six-gun, and some with a fountain pen.”
